Apples Fusion Drive is a logical drive available to the end user made up of one solid state drive and one conventional spinning hard disk drive. The single logical drive available to the end user is comprised of both drives working simultanrously as one mentioned above working together using Apples Core Storage technology LVM logical volume manage. In theory it uses the best of both worlds allowing for faster data acquisition but when failure occurs it can be very costly to recover especially if Apples Filevault encryption is in play. The two drives together work like an unortdox RAID but with some redundancy at least from the bla bla.
